Delta, Utah

Today was such a fun day!!  Mom, Dad, Bubba and I took a day trip out to Delta, Utah for a funeral and I got a whole lesson in family history!  First of all, the whole reason we went out was because Grandpa Jensen's brother Ronald passed away.  I'll be honest, I didn't know him very well but I liked to see the rest of the family.
For example, this guy.  Uncle Al cracks me up.  His wife Christy is a hoot too.  They make a great pair.

There's Christy and me.

Val and Virginia made it.  Apparently they just reported for duty for the summer up at the Martin's Cove handcart trek as senior missionaries.  They did it last year too and absolutely loved it.  I love them!

Evan was so good all day.  He spent most of it in the stroller or the car seat and it worked out pretty well.  He laughed and smiled the whole day.  Except for in this picture.  :)  He looks like a deer in the headlights.

This was absolutely my favorite part of the whole day.  I've heard my whole life about Grandpa Jensen being from Delta and how my dad would spend the summers out on the farm but it didn't come to life until I saw it myself.  It's like a whole part of my family history became real today or at least I felt more connected to it.  It was awesome!  In this picture, you see the house on the right and the building on the right used to be the milking area.  It's hard to see but the chicken coop is also there.  Dad said there used to be several other buildings on the property.

This is the side of the house facing south...

This is the side of the house facing north.

This is a picture from the road of what used to be the church meeting house.  My Great Grandpa was the Bishop there for several years.  The building is now a private residence.

I insisted we take this picture.  Mom was embarrassed at stopping right in front of somebody's house to take a picture but I told her I didn't care.  I wanted a picture from the front.  If you live in a house so very part of my family history you better deal with me taking a few pictures.  :)  I love this picture.  I loved the whole experience.  I could imagine my grandpa, Evan, running around and even my dad when he was little.  I could imagine a time that was so real for so many people that I know in a time where I wasn't even a thought.  It's funny to think of the time before you came around.  It's so hard to feel like anything was real before then.  But it was and the people were real and the things that happened were real.  It's so cool!

Toofies!

Yesterday afternoon while I was playing with Evan, he grabbed my hand and immediately pulled my hand into his mouth like he does.  He has loved gnawing and sucking on fingers for a while now but this time I felt a rough split spot on his gums.  He's totally popping a tooth!!  He's been a little fussy with it but nothing horrible so I'll take that.  At night he's been worse so I give him Tylenol but it also has not kept him from sleeping 11-12 hours a night.  I heart that kid for that.  :)  I can't wait until he grows a few more and he's got a goofy little crooked grin.  Super cute!

Before & After

The living room is finished!!!  All I can say is it's about time.  We lived in this house for over a year looking at the lovely purple.  This is the best before picture I can find.  Of course all the big pictures people wanted to take in our house they gavitated to the ugly purple room.

Now look at it!!

It's so nice to have it done.  It makes it feel like the whole house has come together.  I'm so grateful for the home I have and the people that live in it!

The drama of blogging

So I was going to do some blogging today and found out the horrors of trying to do a simple thing like change my background....and it wasn't just me.  My husband, the computer engineer, couldn't figure it out either.  It's a work in progress.  In th meantime, let's all enjoy a lovely picture of Bubba in a birthday hat.
This was taken at MaKayla's birthday party last night.  What a party pooper.  It was the best happy face we could get out of him.  He was probably still mad at us from earlier in the evening when we put him in this...
Yes, "Thank heaven for little girls."  :)  Greg thought it was appropriate because that would be Evan's future attitude toward the opposite gender (and he wanted to see Mike's little boy in a pink bib).

Back at it again

I haven't even been on here enough to realize that people commented on my last post which was clear back when I was pregnant. OOPS!  So yesterday, one of my coworkers was showing off some super cute books she had made by uploading her blog to a website.  They were so darling that I, of course, immediately rededicated myself to my blog and maybe will do the same.  This will be for me.  I'm not sure if anybody will even read anything on here or notice that I repost, but if anything I need something to record all the many many beautiful things that happen in my life.  I know I love it!
